Formation Of Magnesium Oxide Ion
Project Information
- Category: SCHOOL LAB EQUIPMENT
- Sub Category: CHEMISTRY LAB EQUIPMENT
- Category: SCHOOL LAB EQUIPMENT
Description
The formation of magnesium oxide (MgO) involves a magnesium atom losing two electrons to an oxygen atom, creating a Mg²⁺ ion and an O²⁻ ion. These oppositely charged ions are then strongly attracted to each other by electrostatic forces, forming an ionic bond and the stable magnesium oxide compound.
