Description

a nucleus with 16 protons and neutrons, and 16 electrons in shells: 2 in the first, 8 in the second, and 6 in the third (valence) shell. The most common elemental sulfur structure is the octatomic S₈ ring, a puckered crown shape with 8 sulfur atoms linked by single covalent bonds, and it has allotropes like rhombic and monoclinic sulfur.
